A strategic city that needed better security

Râmnicu Vâlcea sits on one of Romania's busiest traffic corridors — local authorities needed reliable surveillance to prevent crime and reduce fraud.

The City

Ramnicu Valcea is the largest city in Valcea County, with nearly 100,000 residents, strategically positioned at the intersection of three national roads and a major European corridor. It's a key junction connecting the Bucharest-Pitesti highway to the Sibiu-Nadlac highway.

The city sits on one of Romania's busiest traffic corridors, making it a critical point for both regional and international transit.

The Problem

Local authorities wanted to create a safer environment — improving surveillance, preventing crime, and reducing fraud. Before Metrici LPR, they had tried other license plate detection solutions with poor results.

8 cameras at every entry and exit

Working with the integrators and the local police department, Metrici LPR was installed at strategic entry and exit points across the city.

Step 01

Strategic Planning

Together with the local police department, key entry and exit points were identified across the city.

Step 02

Camera Deployment

8 Axis Q1755 cameras were installed at strategic locations, covering both one-way and two-way roads.

Step 03

Heavy Traffic Testing

The system was tested on both one-way traffic lanes on the main exit road and two-way streets — all carrying heavy traffic volumes.

Step 04

Central Monitoring

All cameras feed into a single central control center, enabling real-time monitoring from one location.
