Metrici developed another hardware product that works with its line of software modules for helping law enforcement units everywhere, providing a solution for mobile or stationary LPR with a unit specially designed as a car kit, including everything one needs for detection and communication on the move.

Mobile license plate recognition is a must for modern law enforcement units, be it official or private. With the Metrici mobile LPR car kit, one can do continuous search for plate numbers around the vehicle: front, back, sides, or wherever a camera is placed, in or out of the car, day and night, snow, sunny or rainy day.

Thus cameras can be mounted depending on customer's wish: inside, on the roof, on the hood or on the back of the car, or on all of the above. As it is a mobile unit, the system can be used in any other application that requires or needs moving the detection area. For example, it can be used to detect and count people in certain areas or detect objects in different parts of a production unit at different times.

For vehicles, recognition can be made even on side vehicles, cars in traffic or parked cars (be it angle parking, parallel park or perpendicular parking) for non-stop plate recognition and flow monitoring. Also, the system gives alarms when blacklist vehicles are detected. You have centralized management and database with all events, statistics and reports.

The kit is very useful for maintaining a safe and secure environment, finding stolen vehicles or persons of interest in investigations. It is plug and play: you connect to the vehicle power supply and it starts working. As an option, a battery pack can also be attached for the kit to work independently of the vehicle electrical circuit.

The specially designed interface and touchscreen monitor gives access to instant LPR readings, in just 200 milliseconds from live video stream for a quick reaction.

As well as parking management, one can do some more with mobile LPR: combating crime and fraud with an effective method or just help the community with intention to detect, deter and disrupt criminality at a local, force, regional and national level, including tackling traveling criminals.

So, as a vehicle passes, its registration number is read and instantly checked against database records of vehicles of interest and the event is recorded for eventual future references.

The database, with all vehicles, even if they are not known to be of interest at the time of the read, may be accessed in appropriate circumstances for investigative purposes.

This includes, of course, cameras — usually up to two on a car or any number a client wants on a car — but also the car kit with the hardware for detection and other useful add-ons. The passengers of the car can see the Metrici Interface inside the vehicle on a tablet or a laptop, with alerts and access to settings or reports. Also, the system can send data and communicate with an external central office thanks to dual-band 4G capabilities, for backup in case of transmission failure.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and Metrici machine deep learning technologies permanently improve the accuracy of license plate reads in difficult environments, such as bad weather, heavy traffic, and fast speeds.

By using Metrici, the checking is fast and more effective. AI power is more important than the human eye. Although a human can also see a number plate, it will never be able to instantly compare it to a database with thousands of numbers. This is where Metrici comes into play with dedicated cameras and smart software.
