Kibbutz security at Bnei Dror

Metrici deployed an LPR security system in extreme desert conditions at an Israeli kibbutz, processing nearly 2,000 vehicles daily and driving substantial software improvements for special plate detection.

Security in extreme conditions

Given the Palestinian conflict and the unique environment of Israeli settlements, local authorities needed enhanced security for their communities.

The Kibbutz

Bnei Dror is a kibbutz in Israel where local authorities needed automated vehicle monitoring at controlled-access gates. Nearly 2,000 vehicles — including heavy-duty trucks — passed through the gates each day.

Authorities already had video surveillance, but manually monitoring all cameras and checking traffic status was neither cost-effective nor feasible with a small team.

Unique Challenges

The local kibbutz presented unique challenges for the Metrici LPR team and integrators:

  • Arid climate — extreme daytime temperatures and desert-like conditions made it difficult to deploy and maintain security technology at peak performance
  • Controlled access — communities are fenced with gates that close at night, restricting all vehicle entry and exit after hours
  • Conflict-prone region with risk of military incidents

Automated monitoring at entry and exit

Metrici deployed 2 cameras at entry and exit points, with 1 Metrici LPR BL license (standard package) and 1 Metrici LPR EL license (extended package).

Step 01

Camera Placement

Two Hikvision cameras were positioned at the main entry and exit gates of the kibbutz.

Step 02

Wireless Connectivity

The entire system ran on Ubiquiti long-range wireless for reliable communication in the remote desert location.

Step 03

Heat Protection

Additional cooling measures were implemented to protect equipment from overheating in extreme desert temperatures.

Step 04

Real-Time Monitoring

The system provides accurate real-time statistics, suspicious vehicle detection, and immediate incident alerts.

From one kibbutz to multiple communities

Following the success at Bnei Dror, additional communities adopted the same Metrici LPR solution — and the project drove substantial improvements to Metrici LPR's special plate detection capabilities.

🛡️

Enhanced Security

Authorities can detect suspicious vehicles, monitor and manage traffic, receive immediate incident alerts, and keep the local population safe.

📊

Real-Time Statistics

The Metrici system provides local authorities with accurate real-time statistics on all vehicle movement through the gates.

🚗

Parking Integration

Local developers integrated Metrici LPR into parking machines — the system detects plates and generates parking tickets with plate number and arrival time for payment.

🔧

Software Improvements

This challenging project drove substantial improvements to Metrici LPR — the software received a major upgrade for special plate detection.

🌍

Expanded Deployment

Following the success at Bnei Dror, additional communities adopted the same Metrici LPR solution for enhanced security.

🌡️

Extreme Weather Operation

The system operates reliably in extreme desert temperatures thanks to specialized cooling measures and rugged equipment selection.
